Job Description

Provides advanced professional input to complex Engineering assignments/projects. Under guidance, designs and develops a consolidated, conformed enterprise data warehouse and data lake which store all critical data across Customer, Provider, Claims, Client and Benefits data. Designs, develops and implements methods, processes and systems and data mining tools. Analyzes large amounts of data stored in a data warehouse or data mart to find relationships and patterns. Supports and provides direction to more junior professionals. Works autonomously, only requiring “expert” level technical support from others. Exercises judgment in the evaluation, selection, and adaptation of both standard and complex techniques and procedures. Utilizes in-depth professional knowledge and acumen to develop models and procedures, and monitor trends, within Information Management.

Responsibilities:

  • Part of a scrum team responsible for the design and development of:
  • Services implementing REST-based APIs
  • Browser-based user interfaces (may be either internally-facing or externally-facing)
  • Quality Assurance and Application Performance Monitoring test strategies to validate     proper function in deployed environments
  • Shared tools or libraries as appropriate

  • Complete day-to-day tasks without immediate supervision, but with ready access to advice from more experienced team members
  • Collaborate with other engineers on the team, including pair programming and code reviews
  • Work with scrum master to break stories into tasks and provide estimates, and with the team to ensure the development efforts are focused and aligned with stories
  • Debug and diagnose urgent issues that may arise with production services
  • Exercise judgment in the evaluation, selection, and adaptation of both standard and complex techniques and procedures
  • Utilize in-depth professional knowledge and acumen to develop models and procedures, and monitor trends
  • Resolve non-routine issues escalated from more junior team members

Duties:

  • Highly productivity quality engineer with experience testing REST-based microservices 
  • Understands and can work effectively with the technologies used
  • Works with team lead and manager to help drive overall test automation of REST microservices
  • Experience with testing messaging based solutions
  • Proficient in analysis and design of automated tests and effectively documents them
  • Interprets and collaborates on the definition of requirements that drive the overall effort
  • Designs, develops, and executes automated tests which meets functional and non-functional requirements
  • Provides support and coordinates support for deployed products when there are issues
  • Uses and promotes agile practices that are aligned with Cigna/ESI practices
  • Shares knowledge, coaches, mentors, and reviews code of team members
  • Recommends changes and enhancements to improve quality of products and/or procedures

Skills:

  • Expertise designing, developing, and executing automated tests for REST microservices
  • Expertise with modern testing tools like Postman, Cucumber, Junit, and JMeter
  • Expertise with the various testing patterns: unit, integration, functional, regression, load, and performance
  • Working knowledge with Gherkin scripts and Cucumber framework
  • Working knowledge with Kafka, MongoDB, GIT, Jenkins
  • Familiarity with TDD and BDD
  • Significant experience with agile/scrum practices (able to play the role of scrum master when needed)
  • Experience with testing asynchronous event-based processing (e.g. with Kafka)
  • Experience with server-side Java/Kotlin and SpringBoot is a plus
  • Experience with public cloud/AWS is a plus
  • Must possess excellent communication and relationship skills 
  • Understands and can work effectively with technologies used - server-side Java, Spring
  • Boot, REST, microservices, Kafka, Pivotal Cloud Foundry (PCF), NoSQL databases
  • Comfort interfacing with Cigna/ESI director level management for technical briefings, status reports, etc.   
  • Provide level of effort and time estimates when required
  • Prepare project documentation when needed 
  • Ability to troubleshoot application and data problems
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize work load and meet project deadlines 
  • Ability to adapt in a dynamic work environment and make independent decisions 
  • Extremely process and detail oriented 
  • Strong customer service focus 
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills 
  • Familiarity with health care industry very helpful 
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule to accommodate project deadlines

Education: 

  • Bachelors of science degree
  • 4+ years of testing software
