Job Description

Job Details

New ideas are all around us, but only a few will change the world. That’s our focus at JPL. We ask the biggest questions, then search the universe for answers—literally. We build upon ideas that have guided generations, then share our discoveries to inspire generations to come. Your mission—your opportunity—is to seek out the answers that bring us one step closer. If you’re driven to discover, create, and inspire something that lasts a lifetime and beyond, you’re ready for JPL.

Located in Pasadena, California, JPL has a campus-like environment situated on 177 acres in the foothills of the San Gabriel Mountains and offers a work environment unlike any other: we inspire passion, foster innovation, build collaboration, and reward excellence.

WILL:

  • Data Collection and Analysis: Collect, organize, and analyze data related to the available cybersecurity resources, such as personnel, tools, and timelines. Analyze existing data models, including vulnerability and compliance data to understand prioritization metrics.
  • Model Implementation: Collaborate with the CDER team to implement the Stackelberg Security Game model for vulnerability triage and patching scheduling. Ensure that the model accurately reflects the real-world constraints faced by JPL missions.
  • Parameter Tuning: Fine-tune and adjust the model's parameters as necessary to align with the unique characteristics of each JPL mission, considering their varying resource constraints, critical assets, and threat landscapes.
  • Resource Allocation Strategy: Develop resource allocation strategies based on the model's recommendations, taking into consideration the prioritized vulnerabilities and available resources. These strategies should aim to maximize the overall cybersecurity posture of each mission.

  • *Build Analyses: Develop and build analyses in the CAVE tool that roll up the model implementation, parameter tuning, and allocation strategy into a mission-agnostic capability.
  • Work with CAVE users and designers to effectively communicate the required inputs and strategy via UI elements and report generation.
  • Documentation: Maintain comprehensive documentation of data analysis, model parameters, and resource allocation strategies. Ensure that all findings and recommendations are well-documented for reporting and future reference.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate closely with cybersecurity experts, mission managers, and game theorists to ensure the successful integration of the game theory model into the existing cybersecurity framework.
  • Share insights and progress updates with the project team regularly.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be currently enrolled in a college or university pursuing a Bachelors degree in a major(s) related to work assignment.
  • Must have at least 1 semester/quarter remaining to complete degree.
