What you’ll do
- Develop and maintain portfolio optimization algorithms to maximize the value of TC Energy's Natural Gas pipeline assets.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including engineering, operations, project management and commercial to understand business requirements and translate them into actionable data science solutions.
- Design and implement analytical models and statistical techniques to analyze complex datasets and identify optimization opportunities.
- Conduct thorough data analysis to assess risk and performance of our systems and solutions and provide recommendations for improvement.
- Utilize advanced optimization techniques such as linear programming, stochastic optimization, heuristics, and simulation to solve complex portfolio management problems.
- Serve as data science lead for projects from conception to deployment, ensuring deliverables are completed following data science best practices.
- Stay abreast of industry trends and best practices in data science and portfolio management and incorporate relevant advancements into TC Energy's optimization strategies.
- Engage with TC Energy’s Information Services team to ensure alignment on approved toolsets, best practices, and architecture standards.”
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, statistics, or related field
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in data science, with a focus on asset management optimization or related fields.
- Strong proficiency in Python, and its data science frameworks (i.e., Numpy, Pandas, Scipy, scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch, Plotly, Seaborn, Matplotlib).
- Demonstrated expertise with relational database platforms such as SQL.
- Experience with GIS datasets, and data visualizations.
- Experience with supervised and unsupervised learning models.
- Experience with cloud development frameworks, preferably AWS and Azure
- Demonstrated expertise in developing and implementing machine learning algorithms and statistical models, and operational sustaining those systems (AIOps, MLOps, etc.)
- Experience with optimization tools and techniques (e.g., linear programming, quadratic programming, dynamic programming, heuristics, etc.).
- Proficiency in working with large-scale datasets and making recommendations for performing data preprocessing, cleansing, and feature engineering.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to effectively interact with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
- Proven track record of delivering complex data science projects from conception to deployment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Statistics, Operations Research, or related field.
- Experience with reinforcement learning.
- Prior experience in the energy industry or related sectors is preferred but not required.
